Biography
Prof. Demetris Anastasiou serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of DDD Southeast Europe with responsibility for the Eastern Mediterranean track. He is a professor in the Department of International Relations at the University of Cyprus, where he leads the Energy and Regional Security research group.
His research has tracked the development of Eastern Mediterranean energy infrastructure for two decades, including the offshore gas-discovery cycle, the electricity-interconnector projects, and their interaction with European Union energy-security policy. He is an author of two of the foundation's first publications, including the Geopolitical Brief on the Eastern Mediterranean Energy Triangle.
Prof. Anastasiou holds a doctorate from the London School of Economics and has held visiting positions at SAIS Johns Hopkins and at the European University Institute. He works in English, Greek, and French.
