Biography
Hon. Andrei Marinescu served as Prosecutor General of Romania between 2016 and 2022, after a career as a magistrate and head of the National Anticorruption Directorate. He sits on the Advisory Council of DDD Southeast Europe with a brief on judicial cooperation and the rule of law.
During his time in office he led the cross-border investigative co-operation between Romanian prosecutors and counterparts across the Western Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean — work that shaped his subsequent writing on the operational machinery of regional anti-corruption frameworks.
He has contributed an op-ed to the foundation's launch series on the quiet work of judicial cooperation, and is a regular speaker on cross-border procedural practice. He teaches as an associate at the National Institute of Magistracy in Bucharest.
